The Menagerie
The Game Warden
This is our collection of characters we call The Menagerie.  We have culled the finest local
comedic actors in an attempt to bring them to you.  Before each show we put them on a
constant diet of hard tack and Onondaga Lake Water so they will be willing and able to deliver
the best of their comedic talents in hopes of a few morsels of food from the Game Warden.
Greg J. Hipius - It takes endless patience and a great sense of humor to
wrangle starving local actors, and DFtA Game Warden Greg J. Hipius has
both, carefully cultivated through years of having both his patience and
sense of humor tried and tested by his students at Corcoran High School.
When not managing the insanities of DFtA or the Corcoran theatre
students, Greg produces, directs, acts, writes, and designs for local
theatre productions.  Occasionally he also finds time to eat and to sleep,
although not necessarily on the same day.
The Reigning Champion
Dustin M. Czarny - The founder and organizer of DFtA is usually seen on
stage with the rest of the crew, but sometimes subbing for the Game
Warden when he is away or scrounging around in the parking lot when the
audience is distracted.  A SALT nominated and TANYS award winning
director of local theater he has worked with the Syracuse Shakespeare
Festival, Appleseed Productions, Salt City Productions, Theater 90,
Theatre a la Carte, Full Cast Audio, The Great Zoo Boo , & is Artistic
Director of Not Another Theater Company
The Rest of the Gang
Jon Wilson - Jon has been rated as an "excellent light comedian" by
SNT reviewer James MacKillop, who also wrote that, "If there's ever a
SALT award for running with your ankles tied together, [Jon Wilson] will
be unchallengeable." Jon is a SALT Award winning actor, though not for
Mr. MacKillop's category. He is also a SALTY and TANYS award-winning
actor, designer, and director  Jon has appeared on stage with just about
every theatre company in CNY and has also appeared in shows
Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway, in commercials, and in The
Prisoners of Freedom, a locally produced independent film.
Doug Rougeux - Also known as Syracuse's Bubbleman, Doug is a veteran
Improver and TANYS award winning actor in Syracuse.  Doug has worked
with The ACME Mystery Co., Appleseed Productions, The Great Zoo Boo,
Salt City Productions, Theatre 90, and a host of other companies while
also performing his one man bubble show to children and adults across the
region.  A  veteran of Clown College, he will wow you with his juggling and
quick wit.
Wendy Viggiano -  Don't let her innocent looks and love for all things
Disney fool you.  Wendy is no shrinking violet.  An accomplished actress and
improvershe has appeared on stage with The ACME Mystery Co., Appleseed
Productions, Baldwinsville Theater Guild, and a host of other stages around
town. A former Walt Disney World employee, she was banished to the
Central NY winters from her home state of Florida for an incident
involving Pinocchio and forcing him to tell lies!!
Megan M. Flanagan - Meg brings the true definition of "Witless Wonder"
to life. She is known to put on hysterical performances, and yet has no idea
she's done so! Ignorant to most dirty jokes and lingo, she is the perfect
victim as an improv actor. A contagious earth curdling obnoxious laugh helps
to pull it all together. Megan has played many an air head, unstable and/or
psychotic being, as well as some "normal" characters in the area. She works
steadily with The ACME Mystery Co., The Great Zoo Boo, co-directing with
the Corcoran High School Drama Department, and also with the Scene One
Summer Youth Program at Appleseed productions. Megan does not have an
inspirational witty quote to wrap this all up instead she would prefer to get
a song stuck in your head. If you could all begin to hum Hanson's "Mmm bop",
that would be wonderful.
Terry LaCasse -While he isn't making a total ass of himself with his
comedic comrades, Terry attends LeMoyne College as a double major in
theatre and literature with a minor in philosophy. He has over 50 on stage
credits over the past 17 years. His favorite roles include Sparky and
Frankie in "Forever Plaid",Owen Hugh Moor in "Translations" Robbie
Brewster in "Playing Doctor", Tommy in "Brigadoon", Richard Henry Lee in
"1776" and Hamlet in "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead". Terry's
has directed One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and Sartre's "No Exit"
with many more on the slate. You can also catch him as a Karaoke DJ, a
Murderer, and a Barista in Syracuse.
Heather J. Roach - A twice SALT nominated actress, Heather has
appeared in plays with the Appleseed Productions, Baldwinsville Theater
Guild, Great Zoo Boo, Onondaga Historical Society, Salt City, Syracuse
Children's Theater, & the Syracuse Shakespeare Festival.  Currently she
is on what we refer to as "Baby Break" caring for the next generation of
Improv actor in Grant Jerome Czarny, we anticipate her coming back to
the scene shortly.  After all she did come up with our name!!!
Gerrit Vander Werff Jr. - An accomplished actor and winner of the
2007 SALT People's Choice Actor of the year award, as well as a multiple
TANYS award winner, Gerrit has appeared with Appleseed Productions,
Bright Stars Productionz, Simply New Theatre and simply hamming it up
all over Central New York.  Our resident celebrity impersonator and the
most starving actor of the bunch.  Whether it is a prat fall or funny faces
(intentional or not) Gerrit is your man.
Greg Holtham - A veteran of Syracuse's theatre community, Greg has
worked for such companies as Appleseed Productions, Syracuse
Shakespeare Festival, The ACME Mystery Company, and the now defunct
Theatre A La Carte and Clay Towne Players. He also has performed in the
Great Zoo Boo as the OTHER  gravedigger and on the wildly successful but
short-lived public cable access series Off On A Tangent.  And now, Greg
would like to leave you with a random thought: eiderdown.
